Jimmy Mical brings over a decade of high-level coaching experience and a deep love for the game to the NEA Wildcats program in his first season. A former standout at Triton High School, Jimmy played four years of varsity baseball, moving all around the diamond—from infield and pitcher (featuring his signature knuckleball) to behind the plate when needed.

Following his playing career, Jimmy returned to Triton as an assistant varsity coach for 10 seasons, working extensively with hitters and helping shape the program’s identity. He also spent a year coaching the freshman team at Amesbury High and served as head coach for the Northeast Team at the Bay State Games for seven years—medaling in each tournament.

Jimmy holds a degree in Kinesiology: Sports Studies from the University of New Hampshire and is certified in CPR, AED, and First Aid.

His coaching style is rooted in playing the game with purpose, intelligence, and intensity. Offensively, he teaches athletes to approach every at-bat with a clear plan and a situational mindset. Defensively, Jimmy believes every player has a job on every pitch—regardless of the score, conditions, or position. His pitchers are trained to stay aggressive and attack the strike zone, one pitch at a time.

For Jimmy, coaching is about more than just baseball. It's about building strong, confident, and accountable young adults. “Baseball is a game of failure and adjustment. Through routines and game situations, I focus on developing character, discipline, and awareness both on and off the field.”

In 2019, Jimmy was honored with the Alumni of the Year Award by Triton Baseball for his passion and long-standing dedication to the program.

When he’s not coaching, Jimmy enjoys spending time with family on Salisbury Beach, collecting sports cards, playing video games, and taking in live games to continue studying the sport he loves.
