Coach Tommy Costa
14U | Head Coach
Tommy Costa is the Head Coach of the NEA Wildcats 14U team and brings a strong player-first mindset to his coaching style. A standout athlete at Windham High School, Tommy was a four-year varsity starter and a three-time captain. He went on to play at Assumption College and the University of New Hampshire, building a deep understanding of the game and the leadership it requires.
Now in his second year coaching with NEA, Tommy has led both the 13U and 14U Wildcats, fostering an environment where players can compete with confidence, play loose, and have fun. While he doesn't hold formal coaching certifications, his experience as a leader on and off the field shapes the way he mentors young athletes. His coaching philosophy is centered on keeping the game enjoyable while developing strong baseball instincts and skills. He recognizes how mentally challenging the game can be for young players and works to create a positive, relaxed atmosphere where they can play freely and grow as teammates.
Tommy thrives on seeing his players get rewarded for their hard work—whether it’s a clutch hit, a great defensive play, or a big strikeout. One of his proudest coaching memories came from the 13U season, where his team staged several exciting comebacks late in games. Their perseverance and team chemistry proved just as meaningful as the wins themselves.
As a coach, Tommy leads by example. His transparency and authenticity set the tone for what it means to be a teammate and competitor. He believes team chemistry can’t be forced—it has to come from within the group—and he empowers his players to take ownership while always being there to support and energize them.
Off the field, Tommy enjoys spending time with his big family, staying active, and working out. He’s often grabbing dinner with his good friend and fellow NEA coach, Reece—where baseball talk is always on the menu. A fun fact: Tommy was named to the Eagle Tribune’s All-Decade Team for high school baseball, a testament to his impact as a player and leader.
